DECLARATION
WE decree that we are family of understanding and compassion. We are considerate of one another and show each other the love of Christ Jesus in every circumstance. We exhibit care, responsibility, and tenderness toward the needs of others. We tend to each other and serve one another. We take upon ourselves the burdens of others and are quick to jump in and alleviate the needs that our other family members may have. We prophesy that we are a family that is courteous, caring, and that looks upon the concerns of others before we consider ourselves. We demonstrate affectionate love. We declare that all hardness of heart, callousness, or neglect of any kind is not once named among us. We declare that each day we exhibit the understanding and compassion of our Lord Jesus Christ.
SCRIPTURE
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous (1 Peter 3:8).
WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT
It’s not hard to see that today’s culture is one where people are becoming increasingly careless and hardhearted. Second Timothy 3:3 says that in the last days, people will be “without natural affection.” This simply means people will lose the natural art of human kindness. Instead, they will become calloused to the plight of others. Jesus made a similar statement when He said the love of many will wax cold (see Matt. 24:12). We see this type of behavior displayed quite clearly in the ways people comment on social media platforms. So much commentary is filled with vile hatred and shaming of others. As believers, we must resist the tide of the culture that is overwhelming so many people in this way. We must do the opposite and become examples of God’s compassion. This must begin in our homes, with how we treat our family members. We need to practice the care and consideration of our family and work to make our home a place where we exhibit understanding and compassion. Doing it at home will cause it to spill over into the rest of society and will be a testimony of Jesus to a hurting world. This is God’s will for us. Declare that you and those in your home are people of understanding and compassion!
