And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed (Joel 2:25-26).

What is particularly significant about our verses here in Joel 2 is the fact that it speaks of a season of decrease and decay in terms of years, meaning it was a long, arduous season. Sometimes when there are areas that we have dealt with for a long time, such as an ongoing health issue, lengthy season of insufficient financial supply, or a drawn-out family struggle, we can fall into the repetitive cycle of that season until we can’t see anything different. Often under such circumstances we can begin to tolerate what is, and not expect a time of restoration to ever emerge. It’s time to expect that God will take that long season and restore everything that was lost during it. Change your expectation today and know that restoration and payback is upon you!
