Pastor Brenda here. God has given us so many promises that enable us to overcome the circumstances of our lives. We hear much about His promises and we know that it’s important that we hold fast to them, declare them, and stand on them. But Hebrews 6 reminds us that there is one more element we must mix with our faith in God’s promises: patience.
Sometimes we can fall into the trap of thinking that if God hasn’t answered our prayers in a day, a week, a month, or even a year, that He’s unfaithful. We may even think He’s forgotten or ignored our cries, and then begin to grumble and complain against God. Of course, this does not help our situation! Patience is a key element in obtaining the promises of God. We can’t “microwave” our faith; God’s desire is to transform us into the image of Christ, and we can’t run ahead of Him in the process!
I want to encourage you today to continue standing in faith, whatever your situation may be. We must be as determined to grow patience within, as we are to grow our faith. Faith comes by hearing. Patience comes by a solid determination to not quit, back down, or change your mind about God’s promises. The day will come when you will inherit what He’s promised you!
